The DNA Tower in Kings Park, Perth, offers a challenging climb and rewarding views of the surrounding botanic gardens. The tower features two spiraling staircases, representing the double helix molecular structure of DNA, the foundation of life. The steelwork is protected from corrosion by Zincanode 202 zinc rich epoxy primer, Durebild STE MIO high build micaceous iron oxide epoxy barrier coat and Weathermax HBR high build recoatable polyurethane topcoat for exceptional protection against UV and graffiti.
The East Perth Tower Crane required a high gloss finish that was relatively easy to apply by spray in shop. Durepon EZP was specifically designed for ease of application. The topcoat, Luxathane R, now superseded by Luxathane® HPX, is a two pack polyurethane with long case histories on machinery and equipment.
To protect this iconic tollway sculpture from corrosion and keep its colours looking vibrant and glossy for longer, a two part system of Dulux® Durebild® STE and Dulux® Weathermax® HBR was specified.
