Dulux Flexituff, a seamless, elastomeric liner, was applied over aged concrete to prevent leaks and store water safely.

Water and waste treatment facilities are harsh environments that involve the use of settling, raking, pumping, sludging, clarifying, filtration and disinfection processes. Chemicals evolved include hydrogen sulphide and methane. Protection against constant wear-and-tear, and chemical attack was provided in this case by Duremax GPE general purpose epoxy.

Protection of the steel tank internal against corrosion was provided in this case by Duremax GPE general purpose epoxy. The exterior is protected against corrosion, UV ingress and harsh graffiti removal agents.

Externals of water treatment tanks require protection against corrosion (or spalling, in the case of concrete tanks) and UV radiation. Water treatment tanks are usually painted in a dark green to help the tank "blend in" visually with the environment.

The Somers Standpipe internal lining had to be completely removed and replaced. Abrasive blast cleaning to AS1627.4 Sa 3 was carried out and two coats of Duremax GPE at 320 microns total DFT now hold the town's water.
