Chemicals evolved include hydrogen sulphide and methane. Protection against constant wear-and-tear, and chemical attack was provided in this case by Durebild HSE high solids epoxy.

The Westpac rescue helicopter hangar floor is exposed to UV for much of the day, and therefore requires a hard-wearing, UV resistant floor coating. The concrete floor coating system comprises Luxafloor LGE and Luxafloor PTX. Aeromaster was used for linemarking.
