The Andrew "Boy" Charlton Aquatic Centre in Manly was named after local boy Andrew Charlton, who won a gold medal in the 1500 metres freestyle at the 1924 Paris Summer Olympic Games. He also held five world records and won another four Olympic Games medals, a record he held until 1960. The aquatic centre features extensive structural steelwork that is subject to constant moisture and strong oxidizing agents, and is protected from corrosion using a high performance protective coating system.

The Camberwell Grammar School's new sports centre comprises an aquatic centre in which the internal steelwork is exposed to a highly corrosive environment with high humidity and high levels of corrosive airborne pool chemicals. The structural steelwork therefore requires a heavy duty, corrosion-resistant protective coating system. The centre also includes netball/basketball courts that present significantly milder, drier environments and therefore require different coating systems.
