Meeting FareShare's Needs

Recognising the signs of wear and tear on FareShare's Abbotsford warehouse floors, spanning 300 square metres, FareShare approached Dulux® Protective Coatings for advice on the best concrete protection solution. James Davide, Dulux Protective Coatings Victorian Trade Specialist, and Steve Kraljevic, Dulux Protective Coatings Victorian State Sales Manager, visited the site to assess the condition of the existing concrete and provide their expert recommendations.

Impressed by FareShare's unwavering commitment to their cause, Dulux Protective Coatings decided to step in and made a generous contribution by donating product, time and labour to assist with the necessary repairs and coatings for the warehouse floor.

The Solution: Dulux® Luxafloor® LGE

After careful evaluation, James and Steve recommended a repair of the cracks in the concrete before applying two coats of Dulux® Luxafloor® LGE. This high solids, semi-gloss epoxy floor coating offers excellent durability and chemical resistance against solvents. It can withstand repeated cleaning, hosing down, and even ponding water. Moreover, its easy application by roller makes it a suitable choice for FareShare's busy warehouse environment.

The Application Process

To ensure a successful application, Quinns Painting and Decorating, appointed by Dulux Protective Coatings, carried out the repairs and coating application under the guidance of James and Steve. The entire process took three days to complete.

Day One: Meticulous Preparation

The team at Quinns Painting and Decorating began by diligently repairing the cracks in the concrete of the warehouse floor and by addressing these imperfections ensured a smooth and even surface for the coating.

Day Two: First Coat Application

With the concrete properly prepared, the team applied the first coat of Luxafloor LGE at a thickness of 125-microns (µm)and allowed for proper curing overnight.

Day Three: Second Coat Application

On the final day, the team returned to FareShare's warehouse to apply the second coat of Luxafloor LGE at the same dry film thickness as the first coat. This second layer ensures added protection and durability, enhancing the life expectancy of the warehouse floors.

Supporting a Worthy Cause

By collaborating with FareShare, Dulux Protective Coatings has not only provided effective concrete protection but has also contributed to a great cause. FareShare's commitment to feeding those experiencing food insecurity, particularly during challenging times requires ongoing support from generous donors. Dulux Protective Coatings are proud to support FareShare in achieving their goals.
