Riverlea Shelter: A Stunning Addition to Buckland Park's Grand New Suburb

One of the stunning features of Riverlea is the warm and vibrant colours that highlight the landscape. These colours provide contrast and visual emphasis to surrounding landscape elements and help to create a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. The shelter at Entry Lakes Riverlea Boulevard is just one example of the stunning design elements that make Riverlea such a unique and inviting place to live.

Located near St Vincent Gulf and the Gawler River, the Riverlea project is divided into five distinct character areas, each of which reflects the natural history and cultural landscape heritage of the area. These character areas inform a variety of designed landscape responses and promote a different lifestyle and atmosphere.

Materials and Coatings: Durability and Longevity for the Shelter

The shelter at Entry Lakes Riverlea Boulevard is a stunning addition to the area. The shelter located at the entry of the lakes wetlands required a coating system that would meet the AS/NZS 2312.1:2014 standards for C3 medium corrosivity. To ensure maximum protection, Able Blasting Contractors applied a three-coat system to the shelter's mild steel posts and central rib, following the specifications provided by Kate Rhodes, Technical Sales Representative of Dulux® Protective Coatings.

"When it comes to protecting and enhancing structures, Dulux® Zincanode® 402, Dulux® Duremax® GPE MIO, and Dulux® Luxathane® SPX are the go-to products. These coatings offer superior corrosion resistance, excellent adhesion, and outstanding durability. With these coatings, we can achieve a structure that not only looks beautiful but also performs its function for years to come." says Kate.

The system used on the mild steel includes:

•    1st coat: Dulux® Zincanode® 402 at 75-microns (µm) DFT
•    2nd coat: Dulux® Duremax® GPE MIO at 125-microns (µm) DFT
•    Topcoat: Dulux® Luxathane® SPX is then applied at 50-microns (µm) DFT

The Y11 Canary colour is spray applied in the yard and spot application in situ, providing a beautiful finish that complements the warm orange and vibrant yellow colours of the surrounding landscape.

Luxathane SPX is well suited for this application because of its high-performance finish that is both aesthetically pleasing and durable. With its smooth, satin finish, it is perfect for joinery, and its high UV resistance makes it the ideal choice for exterior applications. Not only is it highly durable, but it is also recoatable with minimum surface preparation. Plus, the wide range of colours available from the Dulux World of Colour and Australian Standard AS2700 colours means that you can choose a colour that perfectly matches your design vision.

The grand new suburb is truly inspiring, with the Riverlea Shelter being just one example of its stunning design features. For tailored coating systems that offer superior protection, reach out to Dulux Protective Coatings
