How do you provide Dulux Protective Coatings clients with tailored service?
As a result of my varied career experience, I see things on projects that others might not. I provide valuable guidance and advice to applicators, fabricators, architects, and engineers. In particular, I have extensive knowledge of the equipment used in blast and painting applications, this in turn offers valuable no-bias support to customers facing technical issues in these areas.
I welcome the technical nuances of certain projects, and enjoy troubleshooting and solving issues with customers, many of whom I've come to know personally as well as professionally. I firmly believe that lasting relationships are forged in adversity. I love providing positive outcomes to complex challenges, and the supportive, collegial culture in our SA team. We're workmates, but also good mates.
What do you think makes Dulux Protective Coatings unique in the construction industry?
We combine an excellent product range with a steady supply chain that maintains effective relationships with our store network. Being Australia's largest protective coatings team is a distinct advantage, providing better scope for support and product supply. I’m proud that we're growing our market share in South Australia and that the team is highly motivated to take it further.
Our new product development is also unique, as evidenced for example by the expansion of our Dulux® FIRETEX® intumescent coatings range. I believe we're broadening our market and product offering like no other protective coatings supplier.
In your view, what is Dulux Protective Coatings’ best product and why?
For me, Dulux® Durebild® STE is definitely our leading product now that it features a Quickturn® hardener. It's versatile enough to be used in blast yards and is the go-to primer for maintenance protective coatings projects, including our trade applicator industry. Durebild STE is also suitable for fresh and salt-water immersion over abrasive blast cleaned steel. It provides excellent protection against splash and spillage of a wide range of chemicals.
What is your favourite project you've worked on during your time at Dulux Protective Coatings?
It would have to be Coopers Stadium in Hindmarsh, home to Adelaide United men’s and women's soccer teams. This was the first Dulux® FIRETEX® Platinum-120 (formerly Dulux® FirePro® 9310) project in SA and demonstrated the relative ease with which this intumescent coating can be applied and also how the product easily achieves film build.
The Coopers Stadium redevelopment is a huge project for Adelaide – it’s rewarding to contribute to something so significant.
Is there a product innovation or specification that you have been involved in and particularly enjoyed?
I have been involved in the development of multiple Dulux® Quantum® V92 product releases. This product is notable for its long-term colour stability and UV protection qualities. Automotive levels of aesthetic outcomes have been achieved by some customers using Quantum V92, and this particular product is developing a reputation of being a dream to work with.
Looking ahead, I believe the intumescent coatings category will continue to gain traction. These coatings offer broad spectrum fire protection for diverse market applications.
