Dulux PC scores a win for new sporting centre
The sports mad people of Heathmont in Victoria will be flocking to Maroondah Nets this summer (COVID-19 restrictions permitting) to enjoy some serious court time. This new build is a cutting-edge design housing four indoor netball courts, a cafe, offices and multi-purpose rooms, gym and four outdoor courts.
The right specification for the job
Maroondah Council commissioned the sports infrastructure specialists at CO-OP Studio to construct the $16.5 million facility. A high-end finish was a must, so the project team didn’t hesitate to go straight to Dulux Protective Coatings' Daniel McKeown for a custom coatings specification.
The first step was a spray application of Duremax GPE ZP on all the internal mild steel and the purlins supporting the soaring 11 metre ceiling. Enhanced with zinc phosphate pigment, this epoxy primer has given the steel a robust protective barrier against corrosion.
The architect chose a colour palette that was deliberately subtle and sensitive to the natural landscape setting. This vision was achieved with a top coat of Weathermax HBR. The durability of this high performance polyurethane ensures the surfaces will retain gloss and colour owing to the high build nature of the coating.

Together with the painting professionals at Dasma, CO-OP Studio were able to exceed their client’s expectations.
