Customised Weathermax HBR delivers high opacity brilliance
Cycling culture has exploded in Melbourne in recent years, with infrastructure initiatives helping cyclists and pedestrians move around safely. The Braeside Park Underpass creates a vital connection for non-vehicle traffic to travel from the suburbs to the city. It is part of an 8km track that will run beside the Mordialloc Freeway.
Dulux Protective Coatings is proud to have contributed customised coatings for this important project.
After fabricating the architectural cladding for the underpass, Aus Group required high opacity red and yellow coatings, and they needed a quick solution to achieve construction timelines.
In collaboration with our Senior Business Development Executive Daniel McKeown, Phuong Doan and Christy Dobricic from our Technical Service team got straight to work creating a custom solution.
A high opacity version of Weathermax HBR that matched the desired colours was delivered in time. With superior gloss and colour retention, this polyurethane coating is one of our star products. It offers excellent resistance to UV fading and graffiti.
The applicators from Complete Metal Protection first sprayed a prime coat of Durebild STE, a high performance two pack epoxy developed especially for Australian conditions. This high film build coat will give the steel exceptional corrosion protection.
Daniel says the project demonstrates the Dulux PC's service commitment. “We acted quickly to deliver a custom solution based on existing factory colours that provides the asset manager with outstanding durability. For the contractor and the builder, the high opacity product minimised paint usage and the product’s high volume solids enabled a high build to be achieved easily,” he says.
